Transparent tram in Budapest

This morning I was travelling on tram line 61. After boarding, I noticed that some of the tram's structural elements are on display as a rolling exhibition, with explanations. This allows a close look at the mechanisms that operate the doors and the electrical systems. There were a lot of people on the tram, so I could only take photos of the part that operates the door and the accompanying description.

The Tatra (T5C5K2) tram numbers are V4314 and V4327 - you can find them in the online (live) timetables.

This is the timetable app of timetable.app, the most manageable and easy to use timetable app in Budapest - and several Hungarian cities - with the vehicle type and license plate number/track number in the header. But you can also find the track number in other such apps, and even in BKK's online journey planner.

At BKV (Budapest Transport Company), they were keen to tell us that, as it belongs to the Szépilona shed, it runs regularly on lines 61 and 56. And this Saturday (28 May), the transparent tram, or recruiting tram as BKVers call it, will be on display at the Hungaária shed's open day. It is also hoped that it will make shortage occupations such as tram driver or maintenance worker more attractive.

And it really is a very sophisticated piece.
